- Through on screen digitizing, points are captured to delineate the polygon formed by the perimeter of
the runways. Each runway is assigned an identifier (Name) according to the Geographic Names System (GNS)
or Canada Flight Supplement (CFS).
Commercial Site, Gravel/Sand Pit, Major Mill Site, Mill Site, Oil/Gas Plant, Other Industrial Site, Power
Generating Station, Tailing (Pile, Pond, Dump):
- Through on screen digitizing, points are captured to construct a polygon which delineate the active
perimeter of site within specified minimum tolerances.
Open Pit Mining Operation:

The National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) comprises digital vector data sets that cover the entire
Canadian landmass. The NTDB includes features such as watercourses, urban areas, railways, roads,
vegetation, and relief. The organizational unit for the NTDB is the National Topographic System
(NTS), based on the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Each file (data set) consists of one NTS
unit at either the 1:50,000 or 1:250,000 scale. This is a legacy product and no longer used in
