Intermediate contours are contour lines that occur between the index contours. For Alberta, the intermediate contour intervals are every 10 metres in relatively flat terrain and every 20 metres in mountainous terrain. Where elevation change is sudden, intermediate contours may be deleted and only index contours are shown. This dataset does not provide complete provincial coverage. All of the National Parks, (with the exception of Elk Island and Waterton), and NTS Blocks 74L, 74M, and a portion of 84P, do not have contour coverage. Ninety percent of all well-defined features shall be positioned within 5.0 metres of their true position. No features will be displaced by more than 7.0 metres from their true position. The error for this dataset has been statistically reviewed. At the 90% confidence interval the corresponding error value is 5.0 metres. At the 99% confidence interval the corresponding error value is the maximum allowable error which is 7.0 metres. 7.0 metres The accuracy of the contour is such that 90% of the elevations checked are accurate to within 5.0 metres, relative to stereo model control. No elevation is in error by more than 8.0 metres relative to stereo model control in areas not obscured by vegetation. The error for this dataset has been statistically reviewed.
