Data quality info:

Data quality: Scope: Scope: Hierarchy level: Scope code: dataset Lineage: Lineage: Statement: Legal descriptions are interpreted. For most sites, a boundary based on the legal was created in MicroStation using 1:20K mapping files from Informatics Branch, Alberta Environment and Parks. The MicroStation derived boundary was then brought into ARC/INFO and incorporated in the Crown Reservation data set. For newer sites, boundaries have been created solely in ARC/INFO or ArcGIS, using Base Features data from Informatics Branch. Data are now maintained exclusively in an SDE Geodatabase.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report: In general +/- 5m where a protected area boundary follows ATS or hydrography. Accuracy can decrease to +/- 20m where protected area boundaries follow features which have been updated from IRS imagery.

Legal subdivision, quarter section, section, and township datasets are all used to properly position or align Park/Protected Area boundaries. Boundaries may be traced directly from ATS lines, or may be used to align a Park/Protected Area boundary a given distance from an ATS boundary. Hydrography polygons and the single line stream network are used to properly position or align Park/Protected Area boundaries. Rights of way, block boundaries, lot boundaries, and ownership polygons are all used to properly position or align Park/Protected Area boundaries. Boundaries may be traced directly from cadastral lines, or may be used to align a Park/Protected Area boundary a given distance from a cadastral boundary. Source: Source: Description: Originator: Alberta Environment and Parks, Government of Alberta Title: Government of Alberta Base Features Contour Lines dataset

Contour lines are used to properly position or align Park/Protected Area boundaries. Contour lines assist in determining heights of land or breaks in slope that may form a boundary in an area with significant elevation relief.
