Abstract: This Alberta diamond inclusion dataset includes electron microprobe analyses of garnet, clinopyroxene, olivine, ferropericlase and rutile inclusions from diamonds sampled by the Buffalo Head Hills kimberlite field. The data are compiled from Davies et al. (2004) and Banas (2006). Diamond inclusions are of particular research interest in diamond exploration and mantle petrology because they provide direct information about the chemical composition of upper and lower mantle and about the petrogenetic sources of diamonds in a given area/deposit.

and their paragenesis include 16 garnet (eclogite, peridotite, wehrlite) 16 clinopyroxene (eclogite,
peridotite, websterite) 13 olivine (periodotite) 1 rutile (eclogite) 1 ferropericlase (peridotite)

Measure description:
The dataset was validated by transferring the data from the original dataset into an Access database.
During this process it was determined that additional fields needed to be added to capture data for
those geochemical elements that did not record an actual percentage but rather a lower detection limit.
Sample numbers (K10 and K10) within the olivine dataset waere modified in order to establish a primary
key.

Description:
The Alberta Diamond Inclusion dataset consists of a series of worksheets within an excel spreadsheet
was used to display microprobe analyses for garnet, clinopyroxene, olivine, ferropericlase and
rutile diamond inclusions sampled by the Buffalo Head Hills kimberlite field.
The data within the spreadsheet was later normalized and then transferred into a database for the
purpose of creating metadata. During this process there were certain aspects of the dataset that
were modified to in order to deal with lower detection limits for specific elements and to establish
primary keys.
